Silk is a delicate fabric and requires gentle care when washing. Think of it as your own (long) hair. Use eco-friendly linen water to freshen up your pillowcase in between washes.
Always wash dark colours separately.
If using a washing machine:
- Put your pillowcase into a laundry bag
- Use silk-safe or enzyme-free detergent
- Select a washing machine cycle for silk items
- After washing, hang it on a hanger to dry away from direct sunlight
- Iron on reverse on a cool setting or smooth out when 70-80% dry.
If hand washing:
- Use warm water up to 30°C
- Use silk-safe or enzyme-free detergent
- Don’t soak for longer than 10 minutes
- Remove silk from water without wringing the fabric
- Roll the pillowcase in a towel to remove excess water
- After washing, hang it on a hanger to dry away from direct sunlight
- Iron on reverse on a cool setting or smooth out when 70-80% dry.
Alternatively, our pillowcases can be dry cleaned.
Our tip: always choose the correct size pillow to ensure the fabric is sufficiently stretched out. This will keep your pillowcase wrinkle free. Silk safe crease-release sprays can also be used to keep the pillowcase looking its best.
